My Secret Aspiration

When you first here my name, Tara, you may associate me with the words; small, dancer, creep, awkward, carefree, etc. But have you ever thought of the word, singer? You probably haven't.

Do you wanna know my secret aspiration??? I WANT TO BE A FAMOUS SINGER! Shocking, I know. Some days I even want to be a singer more than I want to be a dancer. Just thinking of being on stage and belting my heart out with ease and hearing the crowds cheering my name! Doesn't that sound amazing? I want to be on Broadway. I don't want to be a stupid pop singer who's voice isn't even their real voice. I want to perform in musicals and I want to have a part where I can sing as loud as I want to! I don't even have to have a main part, I just want to sing, even if it's just for a few moments. Sigh. Have you ever had a dream where the more you think about it, the more you want it, so bad that you just want to cry? Becoming a great singer is that for me.

Some of my friends tell me that I have a loud black lady voice and that in the inside I'm really black. They tell me that it's good and one of my friends quite enjoys when I sing like that. Unfortunately though, I can't sing like that all the time, because sometimes my voice cracks when I go to high. Actually not sometimes, all the time. I can only sing low songs in my "black lady" voice. Then there's my other normal, singing in the car/shower voice that's quiet and is just okay.  What I really want to do is learn how to blend those two voices together so that I can sing more things. Does anyone have any tips??

Well now that you know my secret aspiration, here are a list of sings that I wish I could sing:
  • Defying Gravity-Wicked
  • I Dreamed a Dream- Les Miserable
  • Forget You- Cee Lo Green
  • Bound to You- Christina Aguilara (here voice is the voice I wish I had. I wish I could sing all of her songs.)
  • If I Were a Boy- Beyonce
  • Ain't it Good- Children of Eden
  • Anything Polly sings in Crazy For You
  • Make You Feel My Love- Adele
  • Crazy For You- Adele
  • Whatever Lola Wants- Damn Yankees
  • Run and Tell That- Hairspray
  • Anything from The Phantom of the Opera (DUH!)
  • At Last - Etta James
  • Note to God- Charice
  • Anything Celine Dion
  • Syrup & Honey- Duffy
  • Who You Are- Jessie J
  • Hallelujah
  • Feeling Good- Michael Buble
  • Piece of Your Heart- Natasha Bedingfield
And the list goes on and on! Pretty much anything with soul and anything from a musical. But these are my top songs. Anyways, that's it for today!
Peace.

Lyrics From My Dear Friend, Kelly Clarkson.

Well, I haven't blogged for a long time! Not that I have ever done it consistently, but whatever, I'm back now! Today, I'm here to give you my opinion on Kelly Clarkson.
Kelly started her dream to become famous on the very popular television show, "American Idol" where many others go to do the same. She blew the judges away in her first audition and persevered all the way until the end, and ultimately won the first ever American Idol. As far as the rest of her career goes, I have no clue, and quite frankly I don't care. But what I do know is that currently, she is still played on the radio, and is coming out with "awesome" new songs.
Now because of the tone in my voice (writing), you may be wondering, "Tara doesn't seem to like Kelly Clarkson very much, so why is she even writing this blog?". Wrong, I don't hate or dislike Kelly Clarkson herself. Mostly and obviously because I don't know her personally and have never met her. She's probably a very nice person. I don't even hate her voice! I actually think she has an amazing voice! My problem with Kelly Clarkson is her very "clever" and "original" lyrics.
At first I wasn't sure if she wrote her own lyrics, so like any other person who is trying to find correct information, I googled it, and sure enough, she writes her own lyrics. In 2003 she came out with her first album, "Thankful" and in 2006 her second, "Breakaway". I was in elementary school during these years and I  LOVED Kelly Clarkson. Back then she had good lyrics and good songs. At least as an elementary student I thought so, and I do still think so now. Unfortunately though, the mainstream pop of today has sucked in and consumed Kelly Clarkson. Her music is now all about the beat and not about the lyrics. Her are some examples along with my sarcastic commentary:

"What doesn't kill you makes you stronger" -wow, never heard that one before.
"My life would suck without you" -suck is a very crude word Kelly.
"Everybody has a dark side"- actually I thought everyone was perfect, but thanks for pointing it out!
"And I know I'm wrong sometimes, oh but it ain't rocket science, no. And I may not be Einstein, but I know dumb plus dumb equals you." - whoever she was aiming that toward must be really offended. Those were some powerful words.
"Swallow me and spit me out" -now that's just gross.

As you can tell, I don't enjoy cheesy lyrics, even though I'm an incredibly cheesy person. Even though Kelly Clarkson is going down hill, I don't really care that much. I'm sorry if this post offends you. You can be mean to me if you want because I'm really not that passionate about this specific subject. I'm honestly just bored right now and thought you might get a kick out of this. I hope you enjoyed my opinion on Kelly Clarkson's stupid lyrics.

P.S. I'm not educated on Kelly Clarkson's life and career, so if I got any information wrong, I'm sorry.
